Volunteer Opportunities
Volunteers are at the heart of HealthSET’s work. They help our clients by taking them to medical appointments, by greeting them at a clinic, by picking up a client’s medicine, or by simply visiting them. The compassion shown by our volunteers makes a tremendous difference in our clients’ lives.
There are many ways you can get help improve the lives of low-income seniors.
Health Promotion Clinics
- Registered Nurse: assess vital signs, provide counseling, health information, and referrals to health care resources
- Pharmacist: educate clients about their medications
- Registered Dietician/nutritionist: educate and counsel clients about proper nutrition for maximum health
- Intake Volunteer: help with height and weight and checking client charts and ensuring that the file information is accurate
Nurse Care Management Program
- Make phone calls on behalf of the client
- Serve as a mentor, advocate, or a friendly visitor
- Provide respite for family and caregivers
- Accompany clients to medical visits or assist with shopping
Adopt an Elder Year-Round Program
- Make friendly visits
- Help organize mail
- Read mail to people with low vision
- Take the client grocery shopping
- Play games
- Join the client for lunch
Special Projects
- Serve on planning committees for fundraising events
- Assist at agency and fundraising events
Board of Directors
- Board members set the direction of the organization, with responsibilities for fundraising, financial management, and oversight of the Executive Director. If you are interested in applying to be on HealthSET’s board, please speak with a staff or current board member.
You are welcome to visit a Health Promotion Clinic or go on a home visit with one of our nurses to help you choose the right volunteer opportunity. Our organization is certain to find a place for you.
